Siren Nation is a unique arts organization that showcases and creates performance and exhibition opportunities for women throughout the year. We are the only women’s collective that produces an annual festival showcasing the original work of women working in music, film, performance and visual art.

Mission

Siren Nation’s mission is to inspire and empower women of all ages to create their own art and to highlight the many achievements of women in the arts.

Siren Nation promotes and showcases the original work of women artists by creating year round performance, exhibition and educational opportunities.

Values

Our organization values are to:

Vision

We envision a society where gender plays no part in determining an artists’ potential for success, for being heard or for being seen.

Leadership

Our leadership is comprised of women working in all aspects of the arts. We are artists, musicians, event organizers, business managers, promoters and publicists collaborating to share our knowledge through outreach programs in the form of free pubic workshops on a wide range of topics. We work towards creating a vibrant, diverse, inclusive and supportive arts community – facilitating connections between women artists, entrepreneurs, non-profit groups and community associations.

Siren Nation Executive Committee

December Carson, Producer, Artistic and Development Director

Siren Nation’s artistic director and co-founder, December Carson, is a native Portlander who loves the city she grew up in. She has over 15 years experience booking, managing and promoting local musical talent. As the owner of Siren Music Company she has been able to help create careers for musicians and bands around the country. In her spare time, she enjoys eating at Burgerville, listening to old-time music and square dancing.

Natalia Kay, Founder and Volunteer Coordinator

Natalia Kay is founder, executive director and co-producer of Siren Nation Women’s Music and Arts Festival. Natalia has worked in the music business in Portland for over 8 years using her talents to support and promote the careers of women artists, producing benefits for local nonprofits, all the while working to build community.

Ana Ammann, Executive Officer

Siren Nation Executive Officer Ana Ammann is a business consultant, published music journalist and advocate of women in the arts. One of the original founding directors of Portland’s Rock & Roll Camp for Girls, today Ammann coordinates Portland’s annual “Support Women Artists Now” (SWAN) Day celebration, and contributes to the leadership of the Siren Nation Festival and Portland Women’s Film Festival (POW Fest).

Mary Ann Naylor, Executive Officer

Siren Nation Executive Officer Mary Ann Naylor is also a founding alumnus of Portland’s Rock & Roll Camp for Girls, a promoter of women musicians, and owner/designer of Ladymade jewelry. Naylor co-founded Church of Girl Radio in August of 2000; the internet’s first all-woman radio station, and in 2007 launched Church of Girl Records. COG ‘Boldly Airs the Female Voice”, and introduces a worldwide listenership to emerging female artists and female fronted bands. Naylor is a graphic artist, web designer, and even makes her business of promotion an art form!
